Synopsis: Jenny Lawson realised that the most mortifying moments of our lives—the ones we’d like to pretend never happened—are in fact the ones that define us. Review: I don’t usually read novels that could be described as humour. But, Let’s Pretend this Never Happened: A Mostly True Memoir, was hilarious. Like, not ‘I chuckled to myself a few times while reading this’, but ‘DO NOT READ ON THE SUBWAY UNLESS YOU WANT EVERYONE TO GIVE YOU WEIRD LOOKS’ funny. I’m not even exaggerating. I had to stop reading this on my way home the other night because I was not going to be able to control my laughter. I was on page 10.

Jenny Lawson’s life and how she writes about it is crazy, ridiculously, funny. Most of the time you’ll be thinking to yourself, ‘am I a bad person for thinking this is funny?’. The answer is yes, but who cares? You should totally read this book. Just not in public. Probably not even at home, unless you are completely alone. Because the people you live with will think there is something wrong with you when you’re alone, in your room, laughing uncontrollably.
Bonus! Look at that cover. I know you want to own a book with a mouse DRESSED AS HAMLET!
My Rating: 4.5/5.0
