Top Ten Characters I'd Like To Switch Places With For 24 Hours

'Top Ten Tuesday' is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. This week's topic is 'Top Ten Characters I'd Like To Switch Places With For 24 Hours'. So, in no particular order:

1. Hermione Granger from the Harry Potter Series by J.K. Rowling.
Between hanging out with Harry and Ron, you would get to attend Potions and Charms! Who doesn't want to be this kind, compassionate, smart-ass bookworm?

2. Tris Prior from Divergent by Veronica Roth.
Tris is the kind of girl I wish I could be some days. She brave, fearless, and just plain tough. She's kick-ass and I definitely would love to throw some knives, jump off some trains and face some fears, at least for 24 hours.
3. Laura Ingalls Wilder from The Little House Collection by Laura Ingalls Wilder.
Confession: When I was younger I totally wanted to BE Laura Ingalls Wilder. I honestly thought there would be nothing cooler then sleeping in a covered wagon and milking cows. So heres to you, younger self.

4. Anna Oliphant from Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie   Perkins.
One reason, and one reason only is need for my desire to be Anna Oliphant for 24 hours. That reason is Etienne St. Clair (and, well, there's Paris too).

5. Stargirl from Stargirl by Jerry Spinelli.
Stargirl is awesome. She just does not care what anyone thinks. So, I would not pass up 24 hours to lose all of my self-doubt.

6. Margo Roth Spiegleman from Paper Towns by John Green.
I'm the least rebellious person in the world. Margo (although a very complex character) is also kind of badass. I would want to live a day of rebellion (without the consequences!) in her shoes, and I would "right a lot of wrongs ... wrong some rights", as she says.
7. Anne of Green Gables from Anne of Green Gables by L.M. Montgomery.
I adore Anne with an E and would love to spend 24 hours traipsing around PEI. Plus, I have a HUGE crush on Gilbert Blythe. HUGE.

8. Scarlett O'Hara from Gone with the Wind by Margaret Mitchell.
Scarlett might be a pretty flawed character, she's selfish and materialistic. But she's also hard working, devoted to her family and she just doesn't give a #$%@. Plus, I've always wanted to wear a hoop skirt ...
9. Katniss Everdeen from The Hunger Games Trilogy by Suzanne Collins.
Well ... maybe not 24 hours in the actual Hunger Games. Either way though Katniss is awesome, like most of the other character's on my list she fearless and brave (and has a hot male lead).

10. Miss Rumphius from Miss Rumphius by Barbara Cooney.
So, probably not the most popular or recognizable character in literature, but Miss Rumphuis was my favourite picture book growing up and I still aspire to be just like her. Spending my life working in a library, travelling the world and then retiring in a cottage by the sea with my cat, what's not to love?

  1. I wish I could be Stargirl too! Or at least have her confidence.

  2. Great picks! I had Tris on my list as well. I'd love to be a Dauntless.

    1. Thanks! Over at The Broke and Bookish everyone was writing about how they didn't want to trade places with a character in a dystopian novel, but I think that would be some of the fun - plus, most of the female heroines are so badass!

I had Hermione on my list too, but Tris and Katnis ended up on my NO WAY list. :) Check out my TTT to see what I mean.

  4. Welcome!

Awesome TTT list! haha I know what you mean, who would want to be Katniss or Tris? Me, apparently! I live a very safe and comfortable everyday life. I think 24 hours of adventure would do be some good :)
